It is of utmost importance that we treat the word ‘breakfast’ with honour for breakfast will tide us over our health problems, if at all there are any, and breakfast will help us resist health problems, if they arise in the future. We are starting a new series of Breakfast recipes but here let us first talk about why breakfast is so important.
There has been some research going on for years on breakfast and its benefits. These studies show that children who eat breakfast do better in school. Well, it does not take much further thought to know that adults will feel better and perform better at work as well if they eat breakfast daily. Wherever may you work, it is not a good idea to skip breakfast. Your body needs fuel to start up and equip itself for the day’s wear and tear. Who said that sleep is refreshing? Sleep dries out the body, tires the muscles and makes the brain slow and clumsy. So feed it first thing in the morning!
Breakfast gives you the opportunity to eat foods with some of the most significant nutrients for overall health-fibre, calcium, Vitamin C (cereal, milk, fruit). If you skip these nutrients, you may not compensate for the loss later in the day. To get the most benefit from your breakfast, choose a combination of food groups and nutrients. Mix whole grains, protein foods or dairy, fruit or vegetable and a little fat.
Skipping breakfast simply ruins the day. Are you always rushed and late in the mornings? So there is a valid excuse for skipping breakfast! Let us end the matter by waking up ten minutes earlier than usual. Then good healthful habits will come your way easily. If cooking is the barrier in the morning, remember it does not take long to whip up a smoothie: a fruit or two in the blender with a cup of milk or yogurt. It’s flavourful and highly nutritious. This is surely one easybreakfast recipe. If we skip breakfast we are likely to become tired when our brains and bodies run low on fuel. By mid-morning, a lot of us grab some coffee or a sugary beverage. We need this revive ourselves at that point of time. This might work for a few minutes or even for sixty, but by lunch time you will realize you are hungry, irritable and perhaps more prone to making unhealthy choices at lunch. Eating a good breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day. A missed meal during the day may mean, in the long run, a dent in the immune system. All said and done, breakfast is a great time to boost the defense system.
